Doc. Choc's (rather succinct) Thoughts

Five years ago I presented my first Easter Collection; Oshter Haus. It was big and bold yet somehow delicate and at the same time my first foray into trying to understand a lot of thoughts through an Easter egg.

It too, featured these Tjanpi Baskets.

In a previous life, I had the privilege of serving bread in a collection of them each day to guests... I can't describe the joy that holding one of them brings. Physically holding it in your hands, it's magical.

Maybe you'll get to feel it for yourself?

Who are the Tjanpi Desert Weavers?

The Tjanpi Desert Weavers are a truly awe-inspring social enterprise from the NPY Women’s Council.

Representing over 400 Anagu and Yarnangu Female Artists from 26 remote communities in the Central and Western desert regions. An area stretching 350’000 square km’s across the WA, NT, and SA border region.

A basket that holds the shared stories, skills and experiences of generations of mothers, daughters, aunties, sisters and grandmothers that form the bloodline of the desert weaving phenomenon.

Maggie Coggan wrote some tremendous words about the impact of Tjanpi back in 2019, all of which are still relevant. You can find ‘em here.

Transparency around Limited-Edition items

There are only six of these Tjanpi Eggs available.

It is not our intention to create urgency or scarcity. Doc.Choc designs all of our packaging, and these boxes needed to be ordered before Christmas.

That was well before Kenyak was what is today, and certainly before we thought we’d be organising the opening of a retail store. Strike that, twice over. We’re still working on the whole home to make our own thing.

We simply wanted to offer something uniquely beautiful, and are grateful to share it with you now, in this small and intentional quantity.
